I have suffered from headaches for many years. They were every day from morning to evening. I have gone to doctors, specialists, have had a series of tests, and ended up taking medication. A friend recommended Brett Cain for acupuncture. My first consultation/visit was May 2006. She explained the entire process, what and where needles would be used. We began acupuncture that day - I obviously had a headache; when the treatment was completed and I left her office, I was headache free. We agreed to a weekly treatment for a period of time, then every 2-3 weeks, then 4-6 weeks. The headaches had stopped completely, and she said it was not necessary to return unless the headaches returned. I felt no pain during any of the treatments. I did return in March 2007 for a "touch-up" and will go back if it is necessary.
I consider her my miracle worker and would not hesitate to recommend her as an outstanding, professional and personable acupuncturist.

As a 58 year old "career professional" in the pharmaceutical business, I was concerned when there were no drug therapies available to treat my sudden hearing loss. The total hearing loss in my left ear occurred in a matter of hours. After seeing both my primary care physician and an ENT specialist for the problem, I discovered that there was little understanding of the "sudden hearing loss" cause and that steroids were not an option for me due to my diabetes. Results of my first hearing test after the hearing loss confirmed a profound level of loss in my left ear. This was viewed as permanent by the person who tested me, and my doctor advised me that approximately 30% of these cases improve on their own. Since I had an accompanying severe dizziness, he advised that my chances were not good. Instead of accepting this loss, I decided to investigate acupuncture for immediate help with my condition. My primary care physician would not support this decision, so I found acupuncture through a trusted source and Ms. Cain.
I believe that Ms. Cain's skill, compassion, and acupuncture has really helped me regain significant hearing ability in weeks as indicated on my 1 month follow up hearing test. I jumped from a profound classification of hearing loss to a severe level and better. I am starting to hear in stereo once more, and the quality of my life has improved. Since I am thrilled with the results, I have chosen to continue treatments with Ms. Cain.

I was struck with severe sciatica in the summer of 2008. The pain was truly unbearable. It started in my back and radiated all the down my left leg and foot. I was unable to do basic daily activities such as sitting, lying down, putting on shoes, driving my car, etc., and I needed heavy doses of prescription painkillers 24/7 just to function at a minimal level. After several weeks, the sciatica was not improving, and the painkillers were leaving me dazed and groggy. That was when I sought Brett Cain's help. The whole process has been an amazing experience, but one of the things that was most interesting to me was finding out that I had become allergic to my contact lenses. Every time I put them in, my eyes would be come bloodshot, and hurt, so I would have to remove my lenses after thirty minutes. I mentioned it to Brett and she tested me and it showed that I was allergic to the lenses. She cleared the allergy, I waited for twenty four hours, put the lenses in and have had no problems since. I would highly recommend this process and have recommended this to friends to help deal with allergies.

My body was saying, "No" when I came in contact with a whole range of things. There were a variety of causes and effects. Avoiding some things was easy but some others are just everywhere. I didn't even know I had so many different allergies or what some of them were about. I didn't have any single allergy so bad that I wanted a prescription from an MD. When I heard Brett say that our bodies can accumulate allergies when we are under stress, I realized I had done that. Over time my body had singled out things for attack that weren't really the enemy, things like ice cream, red wine, my cat, freshly cut grass and many more things that are the subtle ingredients to the foods we eat and the air we breathe.
I didn't volunteer to be at war with normal everyday things. From my medicine cabinet I frequently needed antacids, sinus and headache relief, antihistamines and occasionally lactose intolerance pills. I don't think all those potions and pills are really good for a person plus, they don't really get rid of the main problem.
Brett's innovative techniques to clear away my allergies have at times been dramatic. Her therapy is simple, painless, fast and very effective. I've found that some symptoms can have overlapping causes so, removing just one or two causes isn't always so dramatic at first but, some are.
Here's my ice cream story. When I came to Brett I didn't even know I had dairy allergies. She found a cluster of them. I thought I was "lactose intolerant" because over the counter pills helped my symptoms. When offered ice cream in public for example I would politely say, "ice cream and I always get into a big fight and, I always lose." It used to make me sick all night and into the next day. I'd been that way for over 20 years. I didn't even know I had a dairy allergy. One day Brett said, "let's treat the dairy allergy today." She treated me and a minute later double checked it and said, "you're clear." I was skeptical and a little scared. I thought, well she may have cleared my dairy allergy but, I'm still lactose intolerant. It took me some nerve to plan a day when I would deliberately eat ice cream. One evening I did and waited for war to break out. Wow. There was no reaction, I've been saying yes to ice cream, fettuccine alfredo, cream in my coffee and all sorts of dairy foods ever since. My 20 years of war with dairy products is over.

My son was 8 years old when he had his first asthma attack. It never occurred to us that the cat we had taken in when my mother died had been the final straw for our son's stressed immune system. He had suffered for years from runny nose, itchy eyes and we had a medicine shelf full of over-the-counter remedies with side effects that left him tired and irritable, or jumpy and impulsive. After the asthma attack, we were told his only recourse was a weekly allergy injection. - not a good thing to hear for a boy afraid of needles.
The next 10 years were one long allergy treatment: asthma inhalers, prescription remedies as well as the standby OTC's, and the dreaded injections. Finally, at 18 years old, he said enough!
He continued to suffer from allergies - seasonal as well as off season. But the worst times were the nights he came home from his girlfriend's house (they have a cat.) He would be a sneezing, red-eyed mess unable to concentrate and often unable to sleep from the upper effect of the antihistamines. It strained his first year of college.
Two mornings after his first treatment with Brett, I noticed a strange sound coming from the bathroom as he was showering: It was the sound of water and singing. But no coughing, no hacking, none of the usual morning clearing of mucous. He had been treated for dust and dust mites and now he woke with clear lungs.
A few treatments later the cat allergy was the focus. The next evening spent at his girlfriend's house, he came home with no sneezing, no red itchy eyes, and no runny nose. Later that week he held and petted her cat. "Can we get a cat?" he asked that night.
I haven't bought any Claritin for six months, and he's not had an allergy shot in six months.
